How to Pass the UNILORIN Post UTME Exam 2025

The University of Ilorin is the most sought-after tertiary institution in Nigeria, meaning that the school has the highest number of applicants from the JAMB UTME.

It is not surprising because in the past, UNILORIN was not a member of ASUU, and the enormous size of the school makes a good number of applicants apply to the school.

For this reason, getting admission to UNILORIN can be difficult, especially if you have a low JAMB score, which would hinder you from meeting the cut-off mark of the course you’re applying to study.

In this post, I will walk you through the Post UTME format and how to prepare and pass the Post JAMB examination. Let me know in the comment if you have any questions or need further explanation. I would love to hear from you.

How to Pass the UNILORIN Post UTME

Here are tips that would help you with your Post UTME examination preparations;

  1. Evaluate your JAMB Score
  2. Know the Post UTME Format
  3. Study for the Exam using Syllabus
  4. Practice Past Questions
  5. Stay Updated on Post UTME News

1. Evaluate your JAMB Score

The primary reason why many students fail to gain admission to the UNILORIN is because of low JAMB scores.

As I explained earlier, the University of Ilorin has the highest number of applicants, which directly means that lots of students with high JAMB scores are applying to study the same course as you.

Gaining admission in Nigeria works on the simple principle that the higher your JAMB and Post UTME score, the better chance you have to gain admission.

My advice to you is to evaluate your JAMB score by asking yourself important questions like;

  • What is my JAMB score?
  • Am I applying to study a competitive course like Pharmacy, Law, Medicine, etc?
  • Would I be able to beat the departmental cut-off mark?

Don’t make the mistake of applying to this school without knowing your chances of admission. If you’re in doubt, I can help you out by telling me your JAMB score and the course you are applying to study.

I know you may say that I can score high in my Post UTME even though my JAMB score is low. But, you must understand that students with high JAMB scores would equally do well in the Post JAMB exam.

Sometimes, the best choice would be to apply to another school where you stand a better chance to study your dream course instead of competing at UNILORIN with a disadvantaged JAMB score.

2. Know the Post UTME Format

You cannot pass the University of Ilorin Post UTME excellently without knowing the Post UTME format.

I made this mistake many years ago when I sat for the Post UTME without knowing what to expect. Of course, I did not get the admission.

So you also must never make this same mistake I made many years ago. You need to familiarize yourself with the examination format and questions.

Now, I am going to tell you the exam format.

UNILORIN Post UTME Format

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Post UTME format is a computer-based test (CBT) exam comprising fifty (50) questions to be answered in the space of thirty (30) minutes.

UNILORIN Post UTME questions would be asked from Mathematics, English Language, Current Affairs, and General Questions, irrespective of the course you’re applying to study.

It means that a student applying to study and another student applying to Political Science would both sit for the same exam.

3. Study for the Exam using Syllabus

The next step after evaluating your JAMB score and knowing the Post UTME format, the next step is now prepare for your exams using the official syllabus.

Post UTME syllabus is a list of the topics you must study for a particular examination. It serves as a guide since questions would not be asked outside the syllabus.

For example, you need to know Synonyms and Antonyms, Phares, Clauses, Collocation, Sentence Structure, etc for English Language.

The next tips will give you a cheat code to know the Post UTME syllabus. Ensure you do not study outside what you’re expected to know for the exam.

3. Practice Past Questions

Practicing the Post UTME questions is the most effective way to prepare for the UNILORIN screening exam. The Past question booklet contains a compilation of the exam over the last ten (10) years.

You already know that you would benefit immensely from this wealth of knowledge. It would give you the perfect opportunity to know the kind of questions or structure questions that are asked in the examination.

In as much as I encourage students to practice the past questions, you must not make the mistake of trying just cram with questions and answers without understanding.

Ensure you study to know the reason behind every question. It is what will help you on the day of the exam.

Students who cram past questions usually end up being confused on the day of the exam when a little modification is made to the exam questions.

I know the next question on your mind is how to purchase the Post UTME past questions. Well, you can get it at the bookshop or Post UTME registration centres like cyber cafes.

5. Stay Updated on Post UTME News

Studying for the exam is not enough; you need to be well-informed about the Post UTME and other UNILORIN-related information.

I remember during my time, I knew everything about the school because I was always reading every piece of information I came across about the university.

Also, you need to develop this appetite for information so you would never be at a disadvantage position. You will always get timely information when the Post UTME is out, the release of results or the admission list.
