The following are helpful strategies for performing well at the UNIBEN Post UTME exam to stand a better chance for admission;
- Know Your Admission Chances

- Study for Your Exam

- Stay Updated on UNIBEN News
1. Know Your Admission Chances
Determining your admission chances using your JAMB score, subject combination, and the course you’re applying to study is crucial to gaining admission to UNIBEN.
The mistake I see many students make to this day is applying to courses at the university with low UTME scores or wrong subject combinations. If you fall into this category, you will waste another year.
Let me tell you the truth: your JAMB score determines the course you would apply to study at the University of Benin.
Before your JAMB exam, you applied to study law or medicine. But, your performance on the exam would determine if you continue with your preferred course of study.
For example, suppose you’re applying to study medicine at UNIBEN. In that case, you need a JAMB score above 300 to stand a good chance of admission, and you must have the correct subject combination, which is the Use of English, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
In conclusion, ensure you have the correct subject combination, and that your JAMB score is suitable for the course you’re applying to study.
Let me know in the comment if you have further questions, as I am here to assist you. Tell me your JAMB score and the course you’re applying to study to get the best advice.
2. Understand the Post UTME Format
Knowing the Post UTME format is necessary to study and get a high score on the screening test. There is no way you’d perform well if you don’t know the Post UTME format.
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) Post UTME is a CBT test that comprises sixty (60) questions from your JAMB subject combination for an hour.
For example, if you’re applying to Pharmacy, UNIBEN will ask questions from the following subjects would be asked in your screening exam;
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
So whatever is your JAMB subject combination, that’s precisely the questions you will sit for in your exam.
Let me know if you have any questions about the exam format in the comment.
3. Get the Post UTME Syllabus
Studying using the exam syllabus is the best method to perform excellently and get a high aggregate score.
Many students make the mistake of preparing for the test without studying the past question. It is like going for an interview without knowing the job description.
The UNIBEN Post UTME syllabus is the same as the JAMB syllabus. It means you will prepare for the exam just like you did in your UTME.
Ensure you study the topics in the syllabus and learn everything to know about it. I can tell you this is one of the secrets of top scorers at the University of Benin Post UTME.
4. Study for Your Exam
Studying for the exam is essential to achieve success. As you already know, the higher your Post UTME score, the higher your aggregate score and your chances of admission.
Ensure you study for your exam, such as sitting for the UTME again. You do not need to relax because of the importance of this test.
I see many students making the mistake of not studying after their JAMB. They prepare for their post-UTME in one week by cramming past questions.
It is not the best approach because you will likely not get a high aggregate score to secure admission to your preferred course of study.
In addition, create a personal study timetable you will use to schedule your study session. I recommend you study one subject per day while practicing past questions at the end of your daily study session.
5. Practice Past Questions
Practicing past questions is essential because it gives you a clear picture of what to expect in your exam and determines your level of preparation.
The UNIBEN past question is a compilation of exam questions and answers over ten years. It is available in hard and soft copies.
I recommend that as an aspirant, you ensure you study with the past questions, as it would help you immensely to score high on the exam.
Please don’t make the mistake of trying to cram the answers to the past question because it is a wrong study approach. Many aspirants do this and get confused on the day of their exam.
Whenever you fail a question in the past question, refer to your textbook or YouTube tutorial to get a clear understanding. By so doing, you’d be able to answer that question even if asked in a different format.
6. Stay Updated on UNIBEN News
It is necessary to stay updated on the university and your upcoming tests in general by joining several social media platforms.
As an aspirant, you need to be able to have a source to get timely updates about the Post UTME registration, printing of exam slips, release of results, and admission list.
To do this, you must join UNIBEN Facebook and WhatsApp groups. But ensure that helpful information is on the platform you join. It is also an excellent medium to interact with other aspirants.
Conclusion
A high score in the UNIBEN Post UTME exam is achievable with the right approach, dedication, and effective study strategies.
You can significantly increase your chances of success by understanding the exam format, focusing on critical topics, practicing with past questions, managing your time wisely, and staying calm during the test. Remember, preparation is vital.
Start early, stay positive, and stay disciplined in your studies. With determination and the tips outlined in this guide, you’re well on your way to securing admission into the University of Benin.
